Laura McManus (30) lives in Portstewart and is the business development manager for the Northwest 200. She says:
I wear heels to work everyday. In fact I wear them most of the time unless I go on holiday to somewhere like Donegal, then I swap my suits and stilettos for hoodies and flip-flops which are easier to run around in. I only have one pair of proper flat christian louboutin and I hardly ever wear those.
I think outfits look better and that women feel better when they’re dressed to impress in high heels. Heels can give a girl confidence, particularly when dealing with taller men as they bring you closer to their level in height.
My work is office based but there will be days when I am trampling around the track of the Northwest 200 race in stilettos, through mud and grit and all sorts of things, so my footwear can get a bit mucky.
I once had to run across a paddock wearing a pair of Guiseppe Zanotti four-and-a-half inch designer christian louboutin shoes. One of the race marshals caught sight of my heels once and told me I wouldn’t be able to wear them during the five-day event. After careful planning I ended up in cowboy boots with sturdy heels.They were the lowest heels I could bear to be seen in.
I do walk a fair amount in high heels but I don’t drive in them and I take them off under the desk when I’m in the office to rest my feet. I’m not fussy about what brand of christian shoes I wear. They can be anything from bargain basement New Look to the designer louboutin shoes peep toes that my boyfriend bought me for my birthday.
My love of heels started when I was a child. My mum and granny would take me shopping with them every autumn when they went hunting for the perfect black court louboutin.
I originally thought they were mad, then I began to understand what they were looking for and now I’m sneaking mum’s christian louboutin shoes out of her wardrobe. You could say my love of christian louboutin is a family tradition. I do appreciate that high heels are not appropriate for every work place. For health and safety reasons flat christian shoes or safety footwear must be worn in particular professions. For example if I was a lifeguard at a swimming pool it would only be sensible for me to wear trainers, or if I worked in a warehouse, steel toe-capped boots should be worn.
However the idea of banning stiletto heels in the office is ridiculous to me. I’m more comfortable in them and they’ve never caused me any injury. It’s part of a woman’s right to be able to wear what she wants and louboutin shoes are one of the ways that a woman has to express her individuality. High heels can’t be demeaning either, I’m wearing them because I choose to, not because someone else has made the decision for me."
